About

ARTIST & CURATOR
Holly MacDonald is a Glasgow based curator and artist, who is currently responding to our changing relationship with the environment and rural landscape. Having studied Painting (BA) at Edinburgh College of Art, Holly has worked as a practicing artist for two years, exhibiting exclusively with Eastwood Fine Art. During this time she worked at two contemporary art galleries, and is currently studying Curatorial Practice (Contemporary Art) MLitt at the Glasgow School of Art.

During her time in Glasgow, Holly has co-curated the online exhibition ‘RINSE’, and has partaken in a work placement at The Hunterian Art Gallery. In a team, Holly took a lead role in producing the successful event 'The Secret Sculpture Garden’, involving an evening of art, music and performance. In addition, created marketing content for ‘Workaround’, an exhibition by Glasgow artist Charlie Hammond. Holly’s recent project ‘GOOD LIFE’ was an art installation that took place in Kibble Palace at the Glasgow Botanic Gardens. Through themes of satire, beauty and play, she curated a public display of interactive art, painting, sculpture, and performance in collaboration with select artists Emily Dunlop, Isaac Aldridge, and Suzanne Anthony.

“As a practicing artist myself, my curatorial work and paintings interlink, encouraging positive and joyous engagements with rural life and our natural world. I strongly believe that an interaction with the environment will help us have a positive future with our planet.”
